Each year the Greek island of Tinos holds a yearly festival on August 15. Equal to Lourdes in France or Fatima in Portugal, Tinos is the major Christian pilgrimage in honor of the Virgin Mary, the protector of all Greece. The source of this piety is the miraculous icon attributed to the apostle, Luke who is said to have painted it using Mary as his model. The miracles attributed to the holy icon have made Tinos a center of worship, a place to seek comfort, healing dreams, and dreams encouraging the faithful to visit.
